  • Teenagers make up 30% of Turkey's population two times higher than EU average.

  • Did you know that each year over 1,5 million Turkish students take the National University Placement Exam, but only 30% of them are placed in a university in Turkey? This means that many students will be looking to foreign institutions for admission.

  • In 2010, 1,587,993 students took the National University Placement Exam and only 327,869 students were placed in 4 year university in Turkey.

  • According to the Ministry of Education Statistics, more than 25,000 Turkish students preferred to study abroad in 2004. Including the summer school and short-term tourist visas total student number was over 40,000 per year. 

  • Turkey's political stability and recent economical improvements have made study abroad more accessible to students.

  • According to Open Doors Statistics, in the 2009/10 academic year, 12,397 students from Turkey studied in USA. The number raised up 2.0% from 2008/2009. This number includes graduate, undergraduate & intensive English Students. This doesn't include short term language students.

  • In 2008/2009, 7865 students applied for student visa for studying in UK.

  • In 2003 there were more than 11,000 Turkish students in the UK.
  • In the last 2-3 years the number of students in Australia is regularly increasing. In 2010, 2900 Turkish students enrolled in Australian Institutions but the number was 2500 students in 2009. This signifies around 20% increase.


  • Since January 2004 the number of Turkish students studying in Canada has increased significantly. The number of long-term study permit authorizations increased by 14.72%

  • Turkey is a member of NATO and the only Muslim country with a secular, democratic government. It is a modern environment in which schools can feel safe and can access regional markets conveniently.
